Building a successful website is sometimes likened to fighting a battle and to win a battle, tools are important and necessary. Wealthy Affiliate has a great set of inbuilt tools to set us off, launch our website and keep it going.
Below I will be introducing the Top 10 Tools provided by WA which I find useful for successful website building.
1. Live Chat
This is the place to get a quick fix for all questions. Typically you will get answers instantly as WA has members from all over the world, so regardless of the time zone you are in, there are usually people around 24/7.
Note: Members active in Live Chat have varying degrees of experience so sometimes you may not get exact answers to your questions, or you may not get the correct answers because the knowledgeable ones are asleep 🙂
If in doubt, it’s best to ask again, rephrase your question, dig deeper, or wait a while.
Not satisfied with the short answers you get or you want to know more, use the next tool.
2. Ask A Question
Answers in chat not detailed enough? Post a question to get them answered in-depth. Click on the “Pen” icon on the top right corner, and click on “Ask a Question”
Your question will be posted onto the activity board straightaway and they will be answered by other members. Sometimes the response speed is slower but the answers may be more information-loaded, and you may get input from a few members.
Compared to Live Chat, this way of asking questions is more substantial, as you can always access the answers from within your profile whereas Live Chat can run too fast and you may not capture the information you want before they disappear among the sea of chat going on.
3. Your WA Blog
A WA blog comes with your membership. New members can only write one blog per day but after 3 months, this restriction is gone and you can write as many as you want.
The idea behind writing blogs every day
There are several advantages to writing a blog every day. I see the WA blogs as a good way for us to:
♠ Brush up our writing skills
♠ Keep yourself and your followers updated by writing a new topic every day
♠ Another window of opportunity
Here is a great advantage of the WA Blog which not many members know about.
WA Blogs form part of the WA website. Since WA is indexed and ranked in the search engines, your blogs get indexed and ranked too, so WA blogs will be your additional gateway to gain exposure.
4. Search Bar
Familiar with Google’s search bar? Yes, WA has its own “search engine” from within. The Search Bar is an excellent resource to find information and training within WA.
WA has been around for more than 10 years. Throughout the years, members have been building websites and asking questions on related issues.
The search bar acts just like google, you can input keywords on the issues you may be facing and see whether any results popped out. Many of the common issues would have been solved and you can easily get answers for them.
One special feature of the Search Bar is that it is categorised into 2 sections:
(2) Questions and Blogs
For (1) Training, these are specific training provided by individual members. As long as you have been a premium member for 3 months and above, you can provide training for other members to benefit from your knowledge and experience.
Last month I wanted to compile a list of success stories from WA members, so I use the Search Bar to do exactly that, and I put together a list of about 100 success stories.
For (2) Questions and Blogs, these are the No. 2 and No. 3 Tools mentioned above. Others may have asked similar questions and gotten answers, or members have written blogs about these topics, so make full use of this tool.
5. Keyword Tool
This is one of the most powerful tool to use as using keyword is the way to seo your articles. Easily do a keyword search and get information on monthly searches, total searches, competition (number of competing websites), article power (how strong is that keyword).
6. Wordpress Platform
Wordpress is one of the easiest, user-friendly platform to use for building up your website. WA integrated its website-building process with Wordpress. There is a lot of information on how to use Wordpress, so website-building has never been easier.
Wordpress also makes SEO easier as there are several plugins available for that.
The All-In-One SEO plugin will be available by default within WA. Easily set it up so you can start SEO on your article right away!
7. Site Comments
This is another great tool available within WA.
Having comments in your articles shows activity which Google loves as it means engagement, interest and communications.
This will help your pages to get indexed faster and ranked higher, sometimes even comments get ranked, so always reply to comments on your site.
However, a new site will generally have little visitors and even lesser comments, so how do you get the ball rolling? This is where this great tool comes in — Site Comments.
This is a feature whereby you can request for comments from WA members. One thing to note, Paying-It-Forward is a major theme in WA (a feature which I absolutely love), so you can only get comments if you first offer them.
The plus point to offering comments: again, I find it a good way to practise writing, it trains you to be unique and helpful when giving comments.
Leaving good comments would also ensure that you will get good comments back on your site (it’s really good karma at work here).
8. Site Feedback
Site Feedback is a different feature. It works similarly like the Site Comments, so we also first have to give feedback before we can request for it.
There are lots of members using this feature, so it is likely that your site will be seen by an unknown member, so you will be getting honest and unbiased feedback.
What kind of feedback can you expect to see?
You can request members to specifically to provide feedback on your design, contents, layout, navigation, whether its user-friendly etc, i.e the total user experience of a visitor landing on your website.
9. Ranking System
WA has a ranking system where they list out the Top 200 members. It is certainly not a measure of how much a member may be earning from their websites, but it could be an indication of their success in certain areas.
Not many will see the ranking system as a tool but I will share how I view it and how I use it as a tool towards my own website building.
What does Ranking mean?
Now every member will have a rank. The lower the number, the higher your rank. It is a combination of 3 factors, (1) Helper (2) Creator (3) Activity
(1) Helper – This is self-explanatory, it indicates how helpful a member is in answering questions and helping others with their problems and issues.
(2) Creator – If a member creates many blogs and training, he will have a higher rank in this area.
(3) Activity – This indicates how active a member is within the WA community. When a person is active in Live Chat, or click “like” on posts, even replying back to his/her own blogs and elsewhere, this will increase his Activity ranking.
How I Use This Tool?
Personally I love to learn new things and gaining knowledge, so I like to search for training and information. I would look at the “Creator” rank, and see whether a higher-ranked Creator has any training.
After that, I would go through his/her training and make note of the ones I am interested in and will find time to increase my knowledge at a later date.
10. Affiliate Links
Last but not least, the Affiliate Links which you can use to your advantage. All webpages within WA, whether they are blogs, questions, training, classrooms, webinars have affiliate links, so we can just grab any affiliate link and use them on our website, typically that means thousands of entry points for you to introduce people to Wealthy Affiliate and share this great community with them.
I hope you find this article useful, and if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below. I would love to hear from you.
